Check out this article that describes [in very little detail] that some kind of agreement has been reached and some deal made.
Bad: Your cell phone provider charges you about $3-5 every single time you dial "411" from the phone, whether you know it or not..
Better: For the last couple years, I have been using a free service: 1-800-FREE-411. This was pretty good in the sense that it was free, but often it gets cluttered with advertisements that were eerily associated with the type of business you were trying to reach. Also, it was kind of "stupid" when it tries to recognize your voice to match a listing.
Best: 1-800-GOOG-411 to the rescue. I tried it out for the first time today, and let me tell you: it's awesome! It gives you the usual prompt to "Say a name of the business or category" and it INSTANTLY comes back with the top 4 results, and will even connect you with the listing or send you a text message for free. I tried Antonio's Pizza in Amherst as a test and the whole system worked like a charm, just as expected from Google. For more info and a demonstration video, check out >Goog-411's website<. Between this service, and Google's SMS service (which I blogged about before), you should hopefully not get lost or have an excuse for not buying me pizza!
